My Skincare Routine

Hey guys! Welcome back :)

Today I wanted to share with you my nighttime skincare routine. I don't usually have a morning skincare routine unless I wake up with extremely dry skin or I take a shower in the morning. So follow along step by step and feel free to leave any questions in the comments below:

STEP 1: REMOVE MAKEUP

After years and years of trying different makeup removers, I've settled on my holy grail for removing makeup, and I use it to remove mascara all the time, it's super gentle on the eyes: the Farmacy Green Clean makeup meltaway cleansing balm ($45.00). This. Product. Was. Life. Changing. For. Me. I had tried balms before but they always irritated my eyes, this one is so gentle and the jar lasts a long time. Oh and it smells amazing.

STEP 2: DOUBLE CLEANSE

Cleansing is ESSENTIAL but one cleanse alone won't get all the impurities out. That's why we double cleanse. You may think that a double cleanse with strip your skin of all moisture, but don't worry. That's why I always use an oil based cleanser for this first step. My favourite one is the Precleanse Cleansing Oil by Dermalogica ($63.00). It smells great and you feel like you're giving yourself an amazing facial as you massage it on your skin.

Then I follow up with a gel cleanser, right now my favourite is the Summer Fridays Super Amino Gel Cleanser ($50.00). I read so many reviews before trying it and they were very mixed about the results, the smell and price point. I personally ADORE the smell. It smells so fresh, almost ocean-y if that makes any sense. It's very gently, it doesn't lather much, but I don't mind that. It almost gives a cooling effect when you use it. Some gel cleansers for me are so slimy and I feel like I have to work to remove it all, but not this one.

STEP 3: EXFOLIATE (only 2-3x week)

On the days when I exfoliate, I go for a powder exfoliant. I used to be strictly loyal to the Dermalogica Microfoliant ($82.00), but a new product has entered my life that I am just obsessed with: the HoliFrog Sunapee Sacred-C Brightening Powder Wash ($62.00). The HoliFrog one is gentler, less exfoliating beads inside but still leaves your skin bright and smooth. If you have very sensitive skin, I would recommend the HolyFrog, but on days where you really want to unclog, I wold recommend going with the Microfoliant.

STEP 4: TONER

Usually this is where the toner would fit into the skincare routine, but I don't tend to use any personally. I have a few but nothing I am in love with so I'm not even going to list one here yet :) I know it's purpose is to balance our skin, but my skin is doing great so I don't want to jinx it haha

STEP 5 + 6: SERUM & MOISTURIZER

I currently go 50/50 with two combos:

  1. Summer Fridays CC Me Serum (Vitamin C serum, $84.00) + Jet Lag Mask ($63.00). I love pairing these two together and I always wake up with amazingly plump skin the next day. The Jet Lag mask is a thick cream so it's very hydrating, great if you feel like your skin is dry. This pairing targets brightness of your complexion, reducing dark spots, and hydration.

  2. Volition Snow Mushroom Water Serum ($82.00) + Volition Celery Green Cream ($74.00). I like to use brands' products together cause you know they are intended for that and they will pair well. This pairing is water based, both the serum and the moisturizer, so it's a more lightweight combo perfect for those hot summer nights/days. Ever since I got my hands on these products I have been using them non-stop. This pairing targets dryness, dullness, uneven texture, fine lines.

BONUS: FACE MASKS + OILS

A skincare article would not be complete without naming a few fun masks. It's the most fun part of the routine in my opinion! Here are some standouts for me personally:

  1. Summer Fridays Overtime Mask ($58.00). Hands down one of my favourite products ever. Exfoliating. Hydrating. Smells amazing. You'll feel amazing.

  2. Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil ($95.00, #paidforwithmyownmoney). An amazing, gentle oil for your face. I use this maybe once a week, one every two weeks because I don't want to run out too fast at that price. But I love how the smell of roses comes through in a sublte way and it's very hydrating.

  3. Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber De-Tox Hydra Gel Eye Patches ($70.00, #paidforwithmyownmoney). My favourite eye patches yet, I don't think I need to explain what they do ;)

  4. Farmacy Honey Potion renewing antioxidant hydration mask ($75.00). This mask starts yellow (like honey) and as you massage onto your skin it becomes white and warms up! It's a crazy sensation! It's hydrating AND fun!

And that's it! They are all my current standout products for my summer skincare routine!

* I do want to specify that most of these products we're gifted to me, however, all the opinions are my own and I was not asked to post this article. I try a lot of products and these are the ones I currently have integrated into my routine :)

Talk to you soon! xx
