You guys know I'm a huge fan of Negin Mirsalehi so when she launchd her hair care line Gisou, I freaked. I immediately wanted to try it all and I was finally able to test out most of the line this month. Here are the products I'll be reviewing: shampoo (hair wash), conditioner, hair mask, hair oil, heat protectant spray and polishing primer. I'm honestly impressed and can't wait to share my thoughts so let's get straight to the point.
Honey Infused Hair Wash
My rating: 4/5
The shampoo is amazing. It smells awesome, but all their products smell awesome so I will stop repeating that haha. The texture is different from usual shampoos, less watery/gel and more rich in a sense. Looks like honey, which I'm sure is done on purpose given the brand is built around the Mirsalehi honey, and almost feels like honey in a way. It lathers very nicely. No complaints here ;)
Honey Infused Conditioner
My rating: 3/5
The conditioner left me wanting more, perhaps because I used less than I usually would given I only have a travel size and want to use it sparsely. It's more on the liquid side, which isn't a bad thing at all, just an observation. But overall it looks and feels like a regular conditioner. A bonus: the bottle it comes in is actually made 100% from sugar cane which I really appreciate.
Honey Infused Hair Mask
My rating: 5/5
The hair mask is where things really get interesting. I take great care of my hair so masks are an important, luxurious, part of the routine. This one is intended to improve elasticity, shine and manageability. I absolutely loved the hair mask, you don't need an insane amount, a little goes a long way and it's thick so it really covers the hair. My hair felt so light and fluffy after getting out of the shower. Great product!
Honey Infused Hair Oil
My rating: 6/5!!!!
I have been using hair oils for YEARS. It's the most important part of my hair care routine in my opinion. I had to wait so long before trying this and the price is a little steep so I remember almost wanting it to suck so I didn't feel bad about not having it. The first time I tried it was at a friend's house and loved it so much, so I decided to spend my own money on the oil. I use it after every hair wash and it's honestly the best hair oil I've ever tried. It's hard to explain the feeling, but my hair immediately feels softer and not as heavy, I find it even air dries quicker after using it as well.
If you only buy one Gisou product, this should be the one.
Heat Protecting Spray
My rating: 3/5
Ahh the heat protecting spray. This is not a type of product I tend to use a lot of in my routine, I use it before curling my hair, but I can't say I feel much of a difference, it's more of a protection. It's considered sunscreen for your hair so I know it's important I just can't speak to the how I've seen the effects.
Polishing Primer
My rating: 4/5
The product I never knew I needed. Honestly. At first I was confused about it's purpose, but after playing around with it, I love using it use it for 2 main things: as a finishing product for a sleek ponytail look and as a primer for a look you want to create shape and volume in (like if you trying heatless curls of styling for a special look). It's really fun to use, applies well and guess what, smells great.
Honey Infused Hair Perfume
My rating: 5/5
Smells just like the hair oil, so AMAZING. I bought it to complete the collection I have at home and wear it every other day. It's not a necessary product and doesn't serve a specific purpose but it smells god damn amazing.
Propolis Infused Texturizing Wave Spray
My rating: 2.5/5
I'm personally not a fan of texturizing sprays in general, I don't find they have many uses. I can see myself using it to texturize a braid perhaps or a specific hairdo. So I'm giving it a 3/5 because I find the $52 a steep price for a product I won't be using often. But it smells like their signature scent so that's a +!
Overall, I love the range of products. I used all of them together and was blown away. I kept telling my sister "omg my hair is so soft ahhhh". My hair is super important to me and I take better care of it than my skin sometimes, so I wouldn't put just anything on it, but Gisou certainly passes the test with flying colours :) I will definitely continue to use their products and can't wait to see what they come out with next!
